X-Ray Lens

X-ray Image Intensifier Optics

Designing and building lenses to transfer the image from the output of an x-ray image intensifier (XRII) tube to the sensor in a camera requires very special discipline.

Extreme care is required to minimize reflections at the lens surfaces and to assure the utmost cleanliness in side the lens to avoid image artifacts.

The lenses must have low vignetting and high resolution at maximum aperture at finite conjugates and they must be as compact and light as possible. Finally, in may systems, all elements of the lens must be motorized.

Optec has been meeting these requirement for its entire existence, providing very high quality optics to the most demanding x-ray equipment vendors in the world.

Compact Lenses
For the newest compact x-ray imaging chains, Optec makes short-conjugate lenses with magnification and compensation to match every type of image intensifier and a wide range of image sensor sizes. These lenses can include a motorized iris, a motorized filter, a photodiode optical pickup and even motorized optical image rotation. Go to the Compact Lens table.

Relay Lenses
Replacement, retrofit and special-purpose x-ray chains often require larger cameras an rugged construction. For these systems, Optec offers a large selection of one-piece relay lenses, including zoom models. All Optec right-angle relays use prisms for superior image stability. These lenses may be motorized and fitted with optical pickoffs for exposure control. Go to the Relay Lens table.
Objective Lenses
Multi-port x-ray systems require separate lenses on the intensifier for collimation and on the various cameras for re-imaging. Optec provides a series of very fast lenses designed for both uses. Straight and right-angle models are available. Go to the Objective Lens table.
