FoMOS Camera designs and produces custom cameras using the Foveon F13 image sensor. Originally, intended for a high-performance biological imaging system, the highly-flexible FoMOS design was adapted and expanded to become the DevCam adopted by Alternative Vision for use in its F13 camera development kits.

With the most experience in designing for the F13 sensor outside of Foveon itself and with the full support of the Foveon engineering staff, FoMOS Camera is prepared to execute custom designs for any application. And, FoMOS Camera is centrally located in St. Louis, MO, USA for easy coordination with your Foveon and engineering team.

FoMOS DevCam2 for supporting F13 designs

The FoMOS Camera DevCam2 has all of the capabilities necessary to support design of cameras for the Foveon F13 image sensor for any application. The DevCam2 features:

  • Clamshell socket for the F13 sensor permits quick sensor changes and assures that sensors will be usable in customer designs.
  • Removable infrared cut filter supports wideband imaging and testing of custom filters with the F13 sensor.
  • Rugged housing allows careful alignment of the sensor in test fixtures and provides support for all cables.
  • Easily-removable single board facilitates incorporation of camera electronics into the customers optical system even before the customer camera design is completed.
  • 12-bit x 3 CameraLink data interface supports the maximum data rate from the image sensor at maximum dynamic range.
  • On-board FPGA controller to supply all clocks and provide high-level configuration presets while maintaining full access to all sensor registers.
  • Single cable connection to the all-voltage power supply (included) for easy installation.
  • Rotating, removable Nikon F lens mount for compatibility with a wide variety of standard lenses and custom optics.

The FoMOS Camera DevCam2 supports clock rates from 1-40 MHz.
The DevCam 2 output is 12-bit per channel raw sensor data.
The DevCam2 is supported by a custom setup file included in EPIX XCAP framegrabber software.
